The article was very interesting to read. I think it is amazing that students actually go on Web sites, which involves cheating. I am the type of person to take responsibility for my own papers. Besides plagiarism is a major issue at the universities and colleges. If a student is found cheating they could be kicked out of college or deal with the law enforcement. People are crazy if they want to risk all that just to not do a paper, they have no respect for themselves.
The other question I would like to address is how you know if the person is plagiarizing someone else’s work or where they go their research? I could not be able to trust a person who I don’t even know to write my paper. Also, some teachers now have computer programs where they can scan your work. By scanning your paper, it can detect if it was plagiarized by someone else’s work.

Chapters 5, 9, and 15
Chapter 5
Reading chapter 5, gave me a clear understanding about Fiber-Optic Transmission. It is a very important part in the technology world. Light emitting diode or laser diode is part of the FO transmission that has optical energy, and beams of light. It was a technology device that was able for people to communicate to each other. How the FO transmission works is there needs to be a beam of light with a optical signal. This is like a massager to give information. Also, FO is used for people to watch television. Today, FO transmissions are linked with new technology that can work together to hold a lot of information. The advantages of FO line is can compact a lot of information. For example, Fo lines have gigabit-plus range with a 0.75-inch fiber cable. A disadvantage for a FO line is that there could be a loss of signal could be weak.
Chapter 9
The optical disc can be put into two different parts, which includes; non recordable and recordable media. Examples for a non recordable media includes; digital versatile or DVDs. Examples for recordable are Write once, read many and erasable programs, meaning CD ROM and DVD families. They are both related in certain ways. Both can store information in a type of form with pits or found in erasable systems. Fingerprints and scratches for optical disks are protected from these damages.
In today’s world with technology and new programs are being invented, it is important that there is enough storage in the system. Optical drive or media can be used to make sure there is enough storage for the information. In the future a CD-ROM may not be around anymore. However, CD-ROM is a capable of holding a lot of information, good for the market, and the cost is reasonable. Another system that can be able to hold a lot of information is the hard drive.
Chapter 15
There are many changes taking place in the communications world. As consumers it is important to know the current changes of communications dealing with devices like Video-On-Demand and the Internet. Video-On-Demand is able for viewers to see many different programs from their television or optional service. VOD has many different forms including pay-per-view. The pay-per-view is for viewer to be able to purchase a movie, concert, or special event to be able to view. VOD is like a movie rental place, except a person doesn’t have to drive there, they can make the purchase in their own home. Around the 1970’s, the Qube cable television service in Columbus, Ohio was developed. The Qube cable television service was able for people to cater to their viewing needs for the cable service. Later in the years the Qube cable television did not exist anymore.

Communication in the Modern Age, continued
There are questions concerning the biometric technology. This type of technology is able to know where a person is at all times. I got a little confused reading it in Chapter one, so if someone could clarify it for me better, that would be great. However, I still believe I can make my own opinion about the issue.
This is something that I think should never happen. I believe that if the government did ever do this, that the society would be out of control. I think that people would not like to feel like they’re watched all the time. I kind of think of as a babysitter watching me even though I am old enough to take care of my own self and not do criminal things.

Communication in the Modern Age
In today’s world, people are living in the fast past of technology. Even in the previous years society has used technology to communicate with one another. For example, using a telephone and having a telephone line, the person is able to get information out to the receiver. Information is to be able to code and decode messages. The information a person receives can come from many signals. For example, information can come from a telephone, a person’s voice, a camera, CDs and DVDs, television, computer, ext. Therefore, information is very important. Society is involved with information every day. If a person wants to know what type of currents events are happening in the world, they could read a newspaper or go on the internet. New jobs like being a web designer are beneficial for the society that has to do with information. However, some people are worried that they will lose their jobs because what computers can do better and faster than humans in their job. That may be the case, but computers are able to save lives in the medical field. In today’s world people need to have computer skills to advance in the world.
The downfall about information dealing with computers is people copying other peoples work. It is illegal to copy someone else’s work. Since the work is being shown on the computer, it is hard to find the people who are doing this wrongful act. There are many other issues that have to do with computers. A question arise about the first Amendment dealing with legal issues that can safe guard a person from another person stealing their work. Also, another issue that needs to be taken into consideration is privacy.
